"That was fun"

"That was fun." -- Karl Dorrell, December 4, 2004, after losing to USC (A translation into Blindoese: after a "moral victory" over USC) (Hat tip: Mav's quotebook

Why is this relevant today? Because yesterday, Karl Dorrell led his team to the most fun they had since their loss against USC in December.

With spring practice coming to a close, UCLA enjoyed mostly a play day Monday, ending with the Bruins' version of a touch football game.

Things will get more serious again in the fall. Few things were settled this spring, but the Bruins will go into the fall with considerably more depth at quarterback, cornerback and receiver. Coach Karl Dorrell said that is more important than making final depth- chart decisions.

Oh good. All my concerns are allayed. What does the UCLA basketball team think is fun? A 90-69 win (and that's a real win, not a moral victory) in a dunkfest over USC.

"'Everything was clicking,' senior Brian Morrison said. 'This was a fun night.'"

While Karl Dorrell and his team are playing grabass, the UCLA basketball team is getting ready for a big game against Texas Tech. And under Coach Howland, expectations, and hopefully, performance, will continue to grow. And Diane Pucin has a little piece on the game as well.

But back to the major issue. Karl Dorrell is 12-13. He has a terrible record from November through the end of the year. He is 0-2 against USC. But it's good to know that he and the team are having "fun." There are only a limited number of spring practices. If, as Karl Dorrell stated, they really didn't accomplish very much in spring ball, why are they wasting a practice? Disgusting. When Karl Dorrell is fired next November, he has no one to blame but himself.
